The historic Church of the Advent in Logan Square has closed after more than a century offering services at their buildings, designed by Elmer Jensen, partner in the firm of Jenney, Mundie & Jensen.
The building, located at 2900 W. Logan Blvd. traced its roots back to the days before the area was annexed to the city of Chicago. Jensen was a central figure in its growth, selecting the land for the building, designing its first and second churches and taking a leadership role in its operation.
The church closed earlier this summer and is expected to be offered for sale soon. It’s not technically included in the Logan Square Boulevards Chicago Landmark District but would likely be protected for demolition if it was ever proposed.
