PDF Download: Preservation Chicago’s 2010 Chicago 7 Most Endangered Booklet

Preservation Chicago introduced its 7 Most Threatened list back in the fall of 2002 and, until 2010, we introduced a new list for each subsequent year.

However, when we began evaluating which issues to highlight for 2010, we noticed a pattern had emerged – the vast majority of buildings then presently threatened had, at some time in the past, already been listed as a Chicago 7.

Upon that realization, we decided that in year eight, we would try something different. A re-examination process of all 49 Chicago 7’s began and from that list 21 were chosen that best exemplified the most important lessons learned from each preservation effort.

As preservation advocates, the most important reason to look back at your work is to turn a critical eye on what you have done right, what you have done wrong, and what knowledge you can take from those battles and apply it to those battles yet to come.
